During the 1930s, how long would it take to travel from New York City to Australia by boat, assuming that the boat would be steampowered?

36 days, 17 hours at 12 knots. It’s 10,573 nautical miles.

how much would it cost for two 18yr. old guys who just finished high school to travel to Australia?

The eastern coast of Australia and we are from Sacramento California in the US.
Like airfare? And basic living?
this would be for about 2 weeks, maybe longer.

Well that is hard to say you would have to check with the airlines in your country. The way the oil price keeps going up who knows but I would take a guess of at least $2,000 each return. Best thing to do is work out when you want to visit then search for the best deal and pay for the tickets as soon as you can as it locks in the price even if you don't use them for a couple of months or so. As far as I know most airlines have a twelve months policy on use of the tickets so buy them now and use them later. Ask for any conditions etc before you buy. Basic living it depends on what you class as basic I think Australians have a better lifestyle than most countries and cost of living is reasonable compared to others although again with the price of oil everything keeps going up.

Before you buy your travel tickets I would suggest that you plan your holiday first. Work out what you want to do in Australia eg work and travel or just party from one spot to the other. You have to apply for the appropriate visa according to what you want to do as there are conditions placed on visas that will restrict from you working if you come over on the wrong visa.

Do your homework and you should have a great time as Australia is a great place to visit with many things to see and do.

Are there any good airlines travel from Australia to China and AUS to USA?

29 December, 2008 (16:37) | Travel Australia | By: admin

I have tried Singapore airlines, it was excellent. I also travelled with some airlines in China, and JAL, they are ok~~~~. I planned to have a good experience travelling to China and US, could you please give me some advices about my flying trip?

You can't go wrong with SIA. They have awesome service. Cathay Pacific is also really good and so is Qantas. You could fly either of those airlines within Asia.

For flights between the US and AUS, Air New Zealand is a really good airline and so is Qantas. United flies from Sydney to Los Angeles and San Francisco but I would prefer a foreign carrier. You can also fly Singapore Airlines from AUS with a stopover in Singapore and then onto New York.

I would recommend that you stick to 1 carrier and try to rack up as many frequent flier miles as possible. If you fly Singapore Airlines, they are part of the Star Alliance so if you fly United from AUS to USA, you can earn Singapore Airline miles.

How many money do you have to pay, when you want to travel to Australia from Switzerland?

23 December, 2008 (16:32) | Travel Australia | By: admin

From: Switzerland
To: Australia
How much does it cost

Air tickets vary depending on the airline you fly, the number of connections or stopovers, the month you take the flight (peak or off-peak season), etc.

The general flight path from Zurich to Sydney will involve at least 2 stopovers: one in Europe and one in Asia.

The cheapest airfare would be with one of the smaller airlines, e.g. Austrian Airlines, via Vienna and Kuala Lumpur, costing around US$2300.

Another option would be British Airways, via London and Bangkok, costing around US$2700, or with Emirates, via Dubai.

Have a look at the following sites, or visit a travel agent to see if there are any special fares being offered.

Do US citizens need a visa to travel to Australia?

19 December, 2008 (22:58) | Travel Australia | By: admin

I'm going to australia for 2 weeks to attend my daughter's marriage.

You do need one, and the best Visa for you would probably be the:
ETA (Visitor) (Subclass 976)

This visa is designed for people who are outside Australia and want to visit Australia for holidays, tourism, recreation, and informal studies or training.

It should cost you about A$20. Apply at LEAST 2 weeks before you travel, but preferably sooner.

I can not find any web sites for people on disabled pensions, but most offer discounts on travel and accommodation anyway, you just need to provide proof when booking and paying

Please don’t ask what your range of spending money is.
And what are some good places to hit when I am there
How long do you think it will take to hit all these places?
Including on hitting the Australia zoo
Not including flight or accommodation
I plan on going around winter time here in canada so thats
January/February
of 2010

http://www.apollocamper.com/
You don't say how you want to travel. Maybe a camper or maybe a car aand backpackers accomodation or maybe flights. http://www.jetstar.com/. you will get some flight info here or try Virgin blue. If you are in Victoria take the drive along the Great ocean Road. Do the Sydney tourist bit for a few days then head up To Brisbane. the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast here you can visit Austrlia Zoo. We actually don't say hit a place. If you hit someone you will punch them or if a guy hits up on a girl he's asking her out . Sorry just thought I'd put that in. See if you can spend a month doing these places. Can be done a bit quicker but the longer the more you will see.

how much will it cost to travel 2009 Australia trip?

14 December, 2008 (02:44) | Travel Australia | By: admin

i was invited to travel and study in Australia in the summer of 2009

You should ask the people or organization who have invited you. If it’s People to People, it will be at least $7500 and though you’ll probably have a great time, the cost is a rip off.

Which is beter to travel australia with greyhound or oz experience?

10 December, 2008 (02:14) | Travel Australia | By: admin

Has anybody traveled with either the greyhound or oz experience?which would you recommend for a low budget traveler who wants to have a great time in australia? How are the hostels and how do you get to them from your stop off point?

As long as you are enjoying yourself that is the main criteria. However I agree with the previous answers that neither is the best. Australia is such a spread out country that traveling in your own vehicle is by far the best.

You could have a look at
http://www.campertravel.com.au/
http://www.discoverycompare.com.au
http://www.britz.com.au/

Britz seem to be one of the most popular and you will always meet new people at camp sites or night venues and hostels etc
