Also can you rent a car if you have your Ps and not a full license?
I'm talking about Melbourne, Australia not Melbourne, Florida just to let you know.

I have been asked a question like this before and after a lot of research I found that most companies will lease to a under 25 year old driver, but at a higher insurance charge.

This is also a minimum age of 21 and a full driver's license required.

They do not hire to P platers, I suggest borrowing or leasing a car from a friend or family member. Write up a contract and state you will cover any expenses relating to your 'hiring' of their vehicle. I.e. you stack it you will pay to fix it.

I would try and find a friend that has insurance that would cover you, even if the excess is over $1,000. Many insurance companies these days put barriers on under 30, 35 or 40 drivers.

Take the car to a mechanic and check it our first, you don't want to be conned into paying for a new gear box if it breaks while you're away if it is already stuffed.

Make sure you have an agreement, signed by both people and preferably witnessed.

I only need a car for about 3 months out of the year, and my car sits idle for the rest of that time. So I was wondering…is there any way to just rent a car for 3 months that is still economical?

I found out some info about some rental companies as autounion, Zorbas rent a car, sunny and they are pretty encouraging. What do you think?It would be realy helpful for me.

I do have a debit card and the 'Budget' car rental rep said they can rent me a car- economy for a month for 700 including taxes with my debit card. I want to rent a car for the cheapest price since I'd be doing this for the whole month. Can you also tellme the if economy car would be cheaper than compact?Please suggest any rental agencies or any ideas? Thanks.

most of the rentals use the debit card in place of a regular credit card go on line to the rental site to get their prices some give you a better car if you rent for the month dont forget your insurance see if they will cover damage on your rental then you dont have to pay for the extra insurance (if you dont have Full coverage buy the extra) in my area there are tooo many people that dont have any insurance. You can also look for rentals like rent a wreak which are cheaper than the budget's due to they loan older cars. once you find what you are looking for call your local rep good luck

I don’t own a credit card, nor do I want a credit card but I have been told I cannot rent a car without one. I just want to know if this is true.

Many car rental companies will now accept a debit or cheque card with a visa or mastercard logo to rent a car. You must be 25 and the companies that do accept debit cards often require a larger deposit than usual ($500+) and some also require a credit check, extra I.D., and/or a round trip airline ticket (if renting at an airport).

Check the credit identification requirements for the company you want to rent from.. these policies can be found on their websites.

Let's say, for instance, you rent a car at the Salt Lake City or Rapid City airport and wish to use it to drive to Yellowstone NP, Mount Rushmore, Devil's Tower, Badlands and other spots in WY/SD. Can you do this, or are you restricted to the vicinity of the city in which you rented your car? This may sound like a stupid question but I have never rented a car before, and am planning a vacation to the Interior West in 2007.

Different rental car companies have different programs. Some have unlimited mileage. Some do not. It also depends what kind of car you are renting. But for the most part, if you are renting from Hertz, Avis, Budget, National, etc. the miles are free. Check sidestep.com for rate comparisons

I'm going on my honeymoon in June and I'd like to rent a car but not sure that I can because I'm under 25. Is there any way around this?

I was 22 when I went, and yes the rental agency will rent out the vehicle but will an additional charge for the under age insurance. Keep in mind the rates can change once you arrive. The good news is you will get a rental vehicle but with a little extra. Try to get a convertible because you will double the fun, it doesn't get cold at nights.

There is no single answer to your question. Each rental company sets its own policies and they can vary by location. The only way for you to find out is to decide which country you're visiting. Then, check the websites for rental companies that do business there or call them on the phone.

I need to rent a car today/tomorrow for a week while mine is being repaired. Does anyone know the cheapest place to rent one? I am in Newcastle.

i don't know about others but i used enterprise recently and they are excellent..there is one at the top of Byker highstreet next to mcdonalds…i would imagine all prices are pretty much the same so service decides i think and they were excellent….
