What is the best car rental company for someone under 25?

4 January, 2009 (19:24) | Car Rental | By: admin

I am planning a trip out to Southern California to drive the Pacific Coast highway to Monterrey and back, only most car rental companies I have found charge huge fees just for being under 25. Does anyone know of a company that does not charge these fees? Thanks!

All car rental companies charge underage fees for renters under 25. They average around $25-$30 a day. Enterprise does seem to have the lowest underage fees, starting around $10 a day and up to $25 per day, depending on the city you're renting in. I would definitely check with Enterprise first!

Hope this helps!

How Loss Damage Weaiver helps a person who is renting A car from a auto rental chain?

29 December, 2008 (16:36) | Car Rental | By: admin

How can it help or I should say that how it canbenifit me? Car rentals offer Loss Damage Weaiver as optional and for some rental it is mandatory to have, how it benifits a driver? why should we take it? if we don't take it what are the risk?

Well, your own insurance will carry over to your rental if you have a decent policy. However, you would still owe a deductible if an accident occured.

For example, lets say someone hits your parked rental. You are responsible for the damage to it if you dont ahve a loss damage waiver. Your insurance would cover all except the deductible (lets say its 500) but the loss damage waiver would cover that 500 for you.

Do any US car rental companies let you buy extra insurance for PART of the time you have the car?

23 December, 2008 (16:31) | Car Rental | By: admin

We need to rent a car for 7 days, but we’re only going to drive it on 2 of those days. Is there any car rental company that will let us buy the extra insurance for just 2 days, not all 7?

I used to work for Avis. My information may be out of date, but when I worked there, you could not get the additional insurance coverage for only a part of the rental.

A phone call to each rental company will clarify whether that’s still the policy.

One possibility is to return the car at the end of the period when you’re doing lots of driving, then re-rent it (or another) and not get the insurance. You’d have to play around with rates to see if this could save you money.

I found the best to be http://www.sidestep.com/ they check all the other websites for the best prices and they don’t charge a penny to book. The price they show includes any booking fees the other sites might charge. Best around.

My family wants to rent a car in January from Boise Idaho to San Luis Obispo, CA and I need to know a rental car place that will do that. Any info will help!

That's a tough one. You might check with Enterprise to se if they do something like that. Unfortunately U-Haul doesn't offer auto rental one way outher than a small truck.
