I am in the process of starting a car rental business please provide ant tips that could help?

28 November, 2008 (09:00) | Car Rental | By: admin

i am starting a rental car business in a country were the competetion is not that strong so please give any tips that would lead me to be the market leader in the future. any information would be apreciated.

Biggest tip: Try to find out if there’s really a need for this service. I can’t imagine that one of the big companies would ignore a market where there’s really a demand..

I suggest you start researching costs of vehicles, maintenance (at least in the US, driver’s are harder on rental cars than they would be on their own), and insurance. You should also find an attorney who would help you draft a standard rental contract, and lay down your company’s policies. I could go on and on – there’s so much involved. .

You could also read books, articles and case studies on how the big guys like Enterprise & Hertz got to be where they are, but of coarse, their success is based on choices they made to satisfy North American customers for the most part. If your market conditions are different, then these strategies may not work.

How much deposit does a car hire company take on your credit card when you hire a car?

28 November, 2008 (09:00) | Car Hire | By: admin

Will be hiring a car in Orlando, FL

I am going to guess you are not from the US since you said hire a car instead of rent a car. Here hiring a car would mean getting a driver and car to take you somewhere. Renting a car would mean you are getting a car to drive yourself.
Nothing should be charged to your credit card till the car is handed back in. Please check out web site below.
Make sure to go with a name brand rental company.
Check you own insurance policy. My car insurance covers me driving a rental car. You need to be 25 to drive a rental car.

How much money do i need to travel around australia for 6 month?

26 November, 2008 (10:58) | Travel Australia | By: admin

Hello!
I m going to australia in jan for 6 month with a WHV
Im planning to start in Perth then up to broome, darwin, down to uluru, cairns and fly back home.
How much money do u think i need for this trip? including accomodation, food, visits and buses?
Many thanks!

It really depends on how you travel. I have a friend whose family consists of six people and they traveled Australia for eight months for less than $10,000 because they were traveling in the car and camp whenever they stopped.

You need to be careful where you camp, if you do, because in those sections of this beautiful country there are, unfortunately, many potentially dangerous animals and insects.

Your best bet is to try have the basic plan set out and to just improvise and stick loosely to the plan. Also, make sure you’re not on your own.

You’re pretty much on a straight West-East route so it won’t be hard to get from Perth to Cairns.

Hope you have a great time.

Temporary Accommodations in Canberra?

26 November, 2008 (10:58) | Car Rental Perth | By: admin

In the next month or so we are hoping to move from Perth to Canberra and will need temporary accommodation for the two of us for several days when we first arrive.
Any suggestions or ideas for an economical self-contained, flat or apartment that we could stay in while searching for a rental? We hope to have one of our cars waiting for us when we arrive so transport will not be an issue.

It very much depends on your budget. A google search will offer you lots of suggestions for the many apartment hotels dotted around the city. The more salubrious areas with this type of accommodation include Manuka, Kingston and Civic. Here are some examples:
http://www.griffinhotels.com/
http://www.waldorfcanberra.com.au/
http://www.kingstonterrace.com.au/

A directory of apartments (with pics) can be found at:
http://www.totaltravel.com.au/travel/nsw/canberraact/directory/apartments

It's pretty challenging to find good rental property since demand is so high, so focus on something that offers you a longer-term rate if possible. You may have to wait a few weeks before you find the perfect rental…

You can also arrange appointments to view some rentals ahead of your arrival:

Check out LJ hooker's rental website, for example, at:
http://www.ljhooker.com.au/quicksearch.php?passholiday=&category=rent&type=residential&id=01&surround=2&searchtype=nv®ion=rg&state=ACT&suburbcodex=2935&r2egionpass=93

Best of luck and enjoy Canberra! It's a great place to live!

Australian Car Rental?

26 November, 2008 (10:57) | Car Rental Sydney | By: admin

We shall be looking to rent a car while on our travels at many of the main cities…Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney , Cairns. Should we pre book in the UK with one of the majors..or just turn up,…purchase a local newspaper and go from there ?
Thanks for all the varied answers….does anybody have access to any discount coupons/codes that I could use, as another thought ?

Always book a rental car in advance. It gives you better vehicle options and a much better price than just showing up at the car rental counter. The easiest way for you to reserve would be to book a car online with your preferred car rental agency. Check a booking site, like Travelocity to quickly compare companies, then go to that companies website directly, to see if you can find a deal or special with an even better rate.

How do you find the cheapest possible price for a flight/hotel/car rental combo?

26 November, 2008 (10:57) | Car Rental Prices | By: admin

We are going to Irving, TX from South Carolina in July for my brothers wedding.
i just realised that i put this in the wrong spot.

well, no matter which place you posted, my experience has always been that, with a little research, it's cheaper to book separately. My daughter, grandkids and I travel together wuite a lot and we always get unbelievable deals everywhere we go, from staying in the US to travelling abroad. Of course, my oldest daughter is a researching genius! You've still got time to get good deals for a July trip. Good Luck!

Need to rent a car that can drive in the snow?

26 November, 2008 (10:57) | Rent-a-Car | By: admin

Were going to be taking a trip up to North Carolina, where its snowing, for Christmas. We need to rent a car that is able to drive in the snow. We live in Florida and are not sure where we would be able to rent a car like that to drive up there. Ive already searched for flight and car packages and they’re just too expensive. So does anyone have an idea of where we can find a place to rent a car in Florida that is able to drive in the snow up in North Carolina?

I’m not the smartest person when it comes to auto repair. Last week I had an accident with my Ford F150 and I wasn’t sure how to fix them. I tried to search the web for help, but the procedures were way too difficult for my skills. I ended up going to the dealship for my repairs. The dealership tends to charge more than mom and pop repair shops, but they’ve seen all sorts of situations ( insurance problems, repair warranty issues, etc) and they seem to always find a way to help me. Maybe you can try calling auto repair shops in Florida to see if they can help you. http://www.autorepairshoplocator.com/Florida-Auto-Repair.html

my 18th is coming out and i wanted to hire a car, possible?

24 November, 2008 (11:00) | Car Hire | By: admin

are there any UK car hire companies that will do so?

i work for a car hire company and 99.9% of car hire companies have a minimum age limit of either 21 or 25 due to insurance reasons and they also require 2-3 years of driving experiance, the other option u have is to insure the car urself although it would have to be fully comp and most insurance companies wont cover hire cars, hope this helps and happy birthday :-)

Do you know any car rental company in UK where a provisional driver can drive with a proper license holder?

22 November, 2008 (09:41) | Car Rental | By: admin

I want to practise driving in UK in a rented car and I have a friend with a clean UK driving license for more than 5 years who is happy to help me to rent a car. But, when I asked the car rental companies, they told me that as a provisional license holder, I am not covered by their insurance and hence cant drive their car.

There aren't any.

Can anyone tell me the cheapest limousine or wedding car hire place in melbourne, Australia?

22 November, 2008 (09:41) | Car Hire | By: admin

Hi all, I am looking for the most competitive prices on limousine or wedding car hire in melbourne? I am on a REALLY tight budget and thought that a stretch limo would be our best bet cause then we could fit the entire bridal party (all 6 of us!) into the one car after the ceremony. My partner has decided on using a friends car to get them to the ceremony so thats why we only need the one car. Would really appreciate your help!
Already done that david, just hoping for some insider info or previous customers etc

Check the internet sites in your area.
