How long before travel is the cheapest time to buy international airline tickets from Australia?

31 October, 2008 (01:32) | Travel Australia | By: admin

How long before travel is the cheapest time to buy international airline tickets from Australia. We are travelling late January 2008

This all depends on whether the airlines are having seat sales, and where you are travelling to. You would most likely need to purchase the tickets a couple of months in advance.
Start looking around for some prices now, that way you can get an idea on what the standard prices are, and you will know when a good deal comes out :)

Flight Centre usually has the most competitive airfares out of Australia. Check out their website: http://www.flightcentre.com.au/

You can also check http://www.onlinetravel.com.au/ and see what they have to offer.

Make sure that you understand the rules and restrictions of an airfare…something might be a couple of hundred dollars cheaper, but have a whole list of restrictions that may cause you problems down the road if you need to cancel and/or change your plans. You should also pay the extra money and purchase cancellation and trip interruption travel insurance :)

What is a good car rental agency?

31 October, 2008 (01:32) | Car Rental Prices | By: admin

I will be flying into Denver airport and needing a CHEAP vehicle for 6 days. I have already checked prices and found out that Payless Car rentals is the best, but I need to know what rental companies have a good reputation.

You could check out Payless through the Denver BBB, see if there is anything on their record…otherwise, I'd prefer to go with the national brands because of their reputations (Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, etc.).

Cheap Car Rental?

31 October, 2008 (01:32) | Cheap Car Rental | By: admin

I need to rent a car one way from Minneapolis to Salt Lake City. I've never rented a car before- so have no idea where to look for the cheapest rental- where's the best deal? Is it better to rent by the week? What are the best pickup/drop off times?

Most of the bigger named rental car agencies are about the same- Enterprise, Thrifty, Hertz, Avis, and Budget rent economy cars for about $20 a day. Depending on the demand and time of year I have seen cars rent for as low as $12 a day. The wise thing to do is to check the rates every few days to get an idea of how the trends fluctuate. Sometimes Thrifty may be higher while Enterprise is lower. If you reserve the car when the rates are at their lowest, you will have the car for that price when the rates go back up. When you reserve the car, be sure to ask if a deposit is required in order to reserve the car at that particular price.

Normally if you intend on renting the car for a few days but you end up keeping it for a week, your charges will be automatically adjusted for a weekly rental. Be sure to ask about that so that you do not get charged for 7 days. The last time I rented a car the cost was $30 a day but it was only $165 a week. I kept it for 6 days and it ended up costing me $180. Had I kept it one more day I would have been able to save $15.

Also consider that if you are driving the car one way, there might be an additional charge for that so be sure to ask in advanced. I rented from Enterprise once and because I drove the car from one airport to the other, they didn't charge me any additional costs.

Overall it pays to shop around on a regular basis. The prices even vary between locations of a particular agency. It very well might cost more to rent from Hertz in your neighborhood than it would cost to rent at the airport.

How can i rent a car on holiday?

31 October, 2008 (01:32) | Rent-a-Car | By: admin

In Canada is there any way I can rent a car at 18? As most popular places I've looked at so far have a minimum age of 21.

It is unlikely you be able to rent a car at 18. Most rental places require you to be 21. Many require additional insurance if you are under 25.

Any good car rental company in France?

31 October, 2008 (01:32) | Car Rental | By: admin

I’m planning rent a car in France and return in Spain. Can anyone recommend a good rental company?

Well there are the usual ones like Hertz , Avis and Europcar. In France here we have Budget and Ada , which are very good and offer a quite competitive rate. But most of them will have you return the car back to where you hire it,not other country. There is rentacar.fr and also holidayautos.fr which I know customers can drop off their cars in Spain, Portugal and Corsica.

Who pays the cost of a hire car while mine is being repaired?

31 October, 2008 (01:32) | Car Hire | By: admin

A car went through a stop sign & crashed into me, leaving my car undriveable. I have had to hire a car until mine is repaired, whenever that will be. Doesn't seem fair that I have to pay when it wasn't my fault. Anyone know what to do?

This happened to me a few years ago, and the ins, co. of the party at fault paid for an "equivalent" rental car.

Call 'em up and find out what they will pay for, or ask YOUR ins agent to do so.

Advice on discount cards for hostels/travel in Australia?

29 October, 2008 (02:48) | Travel Australia | By: admin

Whats the best discount card for hostel accomodation?
I'm travelling to Thailand and Australia in a few weeks and have been advised to get a discount card, but there are so many out there, which ones actually work, I don't want to pay money for something that hardly anybody accepts.

I'm not a student, but I am under 25, and will require a card for hostels and travel.

Any suggestions?

If you book your accommodation through wotif.com or lastminute.com you will get cheaper prices than normal.

Where can I get good, not expired rental car discount codes online?

29 October, 2008 (02:48) | Car Rental Prices | By: admin

I'm trying to rent a car @ BWI and the prices are absolutely ridiculous, almost $300.00 for 3 days on cars under midsize. Where can I get legitimate rental car discount codes or coupons online, within the next day? No Priceline.
