I want to work and travel Australia, How?

29 September, 2008 (00:28) | Travel Australia | By: admin

i want to get a working holiday visa for australia and go there for a few months up to a year, but after getting the visa, where do i start?
obviously get a flight, but what about accomadation and job?
ive never been travelling and have no idea about these things, please enlighten me..
thank you.

Just save some money, get your passport, your Working Holiday visa (get it yourself - see below), your airline ticket and come on down.

Plan on staying in hostels (there are hundreds throughout Australia in all the best locations) and travel around seeing our fabulous country, picking up short term work as you go. Hostels are an excellent source of new friends, travelling companions and information on places to go and available work. Unless you really want to stay in one place for a long period of time, don't worry about getting 'a job', though if you want to, there's plenty of casual and part time work available.

The cost of your Work and Holiday visa is AUD$195 and they're very easy to apply for online, so keep that in mind when you look at what people like those in the other link (Bunac) will charge you (AUD$420 IIRC).

Following is a link to a very useful site that includes info on hostels:

EDIT:
I've just read your other question. If you've already had a working holiday visa, you will be pushing to get another even though you didn't use the last one. Once a WH visa is granted, it's not possible to defer its start date. Have you checked with immigration to see if they're prepared to give you a second visa? I doubt if they will.

Insurance claim in Melbourne???

29 September, 2008 (00:28) | Car Rental Melbourne | By: admin

I had an accident and my car is now in a panel shop here in Melbourne. It’s been 2 weeks today(Thursday-04/09/08) and it’s still not ready yet as the parts that they want is not available in the market or at Holden dealer. My policy doesn’t have any rental car option, but i can choose a repairer who can lend his car while he fix mine. The repairer chosen by me doesn’t provide any loan car and now says he can’t fix this and can take another 3 weeks.
Now my question is, can i do something about this?? can i by anyhow get my car back sooner? or can make a claim for my rental car?
Is there any way out that you may aware off?

Please advice.

who should read th PDS
before taking out insurance

Best Way To Travel From Sydney to Cairns?

29 September, 2008 (00:28) | Car Rental Sydney | By: admin

I will be travelling this route from 19th Jan 2008 to 9 Feb 2008 and was looking to possibly follow this itinery:

Cairns for - 2 nights
Mission beach - 1 night
Airlie beach & whitsunday islands - 2 nights
Hervey bay & fraser island - 2 nights
Noosa - 2 night
Brisbane - 1 nights
Surfers Paradice - 2 nights
Byron Bay - 2 nights
Coffs Harbour - 1 night
Port Macquarie - 1 night
Port stephens - 1 night
Sydney - 3 nights

Its one of three options

Car rental and hotels
Campervan

Will I really have the time to travel all that distance or will I need to fly some of the way?

Loads of time but it seems like you are ticking off all the main attractions along the way. My advice is to relax so you can allow time to enjoy your visit. Sail around around the Whitsundays. Try a 3 or 4 day stay at a farm inland from Rockhampton, thats if you like horses, quad bikes, the outback, pet kangaroos, herding cattle, and sleeping under the stars. From your itinery mabe not. Anyway enjoy your trip.

Car dealership - Car rental price/requirements?

29 September, 2008 (00:28) | Car Rental Prices | By: admin

I did some research and car rentals companies charge at least 50$/day, which is very expensive.

So, I was wondering what about car dealerships (ex: Ford, Honda…).
(Visiting another state)

enterprise only charged me 29 a day, and that's including tax and everything. there are different 'classes' of cars, you could probably get a lower rate by going to a smaller car.

What is a cheap car rental place in Orlando,FL?

29 September, 2008 (00:28) | Cheap Car Rental | By: admin

Flying from Austin, Tx to Orlando,Fl on March 26th. Need to pick up the car that day(mid-day).The next day I will be driving to Miami and staying there until the 30th… then I will be heading back to Orlando on the 1st to return the car. Basically I will be putting quite a bit of miles on the car and having it for 7 days. Where should I go for the best deal?

I usually use Enterprise. Check their website. They have some good discounts if you catch 'em. I had made reservations for the 5th of April and it costs me 20 bucks per day for unlimited miles. One day, I checked their website again and rentals for the same car was 15 bucks a day. So needless to say, I updated my reservations with them. I'm happy and Enterprise is glad I'm sure that they still have my business.

Does someone know how to rent a car after a car accident ?

29 September, 2008 (00:28) | Rent-a-Car | By: admin

I had a car accident a week ago and i don't have rent a-car in my insurance policy. The accident was her fault. Does someone knows how can i rent a car with other parties insurance ?

Get in contact with the other insurance company's claim department and file a claim against their insurance. If it was her fault and she accepts liability or it is proven that she is liable, they should pay to fix your car too.

What kind of insurance should we buy from car rental?

29 September, 2008 (00:28) | Car Rental | By: admin

My friend came from Taiwan and want to rent a car in USA. The car rental company offer differet kinds of insurance. Which insurance is most recommended?

I work for an insurance company and I am licensed in 17 states. It is important to realize that your insurance will not cover your friend even if you sign for the vehicle and let him/her drive it.

The rental company does actually maintain insurance on all of their vehicles because it retains ownership and only rents the vehicle to your friend. Most people do not know that.

Your friend is still going to have to purchase the full package which includes liability, collision and comprehensive coverage. The coverage for loss of use is optional but is also a good idea. The benefit of purchasing adequate coverage is that your friend will be able to walk away and not get bogged down in legal problems if there is an accident.

Even if your friend is a good driver, there is a relatively high risk of an accident because your friend will be driving in a strange environment.

Do points on your driving license affect car hire in Florida?

29 September, 2008 (00:28) | Car Hire | By: admin

I have just been given three points for speeding on my license. Unfortunately I already have a trip planned to Florida this summer and since I am the only one who can drive can anyone tell me if this will affect my ability to get car hire?

Hi this I think depends on the hire company so you need to speak to them about this. I think there are some companies that do allow some leaway for speeding fines as they are always getting them in the US but you really do need to check with them.

Hope that its works out ok and you go on to have a great holiday. although it wont be the end of the world if you are unable to drive. I have never driven in Orlando and manage to do everything i need to using cabs and public transport.

What can i do when someone parked in the parking lot of the rental property i live in?

27 September, 2008 (03:32) | Car Rental Melbourne | By: admin

i want to know if i can get the car towed away without me incurring any charges.

i live in melbourne, williamstown.

If your lease shows you pay for a private space and that space is it, then you should be able to call the police yourself and they can have it towed away at no cost to you. Or, if there are no parking private property signs, violators will be towed sign's posted, then you should be able to call a specific towing company who would be happy to tow the car at no cost to you. That is how it works where I live. It may be different by you. Good luck!
